In 1984, just one year after the inaugural Coast to Coast, the club was formed by a group of keen west Auckland multisporters as a a loosely knit training and racing club. The main drive at this time was the running of the Super Tri from the Waitemata Stadium in Henderson. The race was later shifted to Bethels Beach and renamed SuperDune. 1985 saw an increase in membership including the longest serving existing members, Ron Hansen, Blair Roskruge and Richard Couchman. It was at this time the the club was officially incorporated. In 1989 the clubrooms consisted of storage facility within the Waitemata Rowing Club building. Unfortunately the following year this burnt to the ground along with club & individuals' kayaks and equipment. After this catastrophe the club approached the council to build its own clubrooms adjacent to the Rowing Club. Having finaly received planning approval the clubrooms were built by club members in 1992. Since that time the club has grown both in terms of membership and performance of club members. In Kayaking members have won in both sprint and marathon competition at national level and club members have been selected to represent NZ at the World Championships. Our multisport athletes have regularly finished at or near the top of most of the major multisport races.
